Ravindra Jadeja Argues With Umpire

Brevis DRS Twist Sparks CSK Outrage, Jadeja Engages in Heated Exchange With Umpire.

One of Chennai Super Kings’ top batters, Dewald Brevis, found himself at the center of a major DRS controversy during their IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. Brevis, facing his very first delivery from Lungi Ngidi, was given out LBW by the on-field umpire and had to walk back for a golden duck. The decision looked questionable, so Brevis signaled for a review — but was told he had run out of time.

The ball had struck his pads but seemed to be going down the leg side. Brevis paused to talk with non-striker Ravindra Jadeja before opting for the review. However, by then, the 15-second window for DRS had expired. Both players had a short argument with the umpire, confused and frustrated about the missed opportunity.

Replays confirmed that the ball would have clearly missed the stumps, sparking debate not only about the review timer but also about the original LBW decision itself. It appeared that Brevis couldn’t see the DRS countdown on the screen and thought he still had time to review.

This moment proved costly for CSK, who ended up losing the match by just 2 runs. Despite incredible knocks from Ayush Mhatre (94) and Jadeja (77*), the team fell short in their chase and stayed at the bottom of the points table.

With this win, RCB made history by beating CSK twice in a single IPL season for the first time, having already won the earlier game at Chepauk.
