In October, he showcased his collection during the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2024. “It is indeed true that he has departed. He suffered a cardiac arrest… heart failure. Rohit was a legend, and we are utterly devastated at this moment. We are currently making arrangements for his cremation tomorrow,” Sethi informed PTI. He was receiving treatment at Aashlok Hospital in Safdarjung Enclave under the care of Dr. Alok Chopra, Sethi added.
Despite the efforts of doctors who worked for two hours to revive him, Sethi expressed his heartbreak over the loss. The legendary designer Rohit Bal passed away on November 1.
The announcement of his passing was made via the official Instagram account of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
“We mourn the loss of the legendary designer Rohit Bal. He was a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Renowned for his distinctive fusion of traditional motifs with contemporary aesthetics, Bal’s contributions transformed Indian fashion and inspired countless individuals. In October 2024, Bal made a return to the runway nearly a year after his health challenges, presenting his collection titled “Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe” at the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week. Bal had been experiencing health issues for an extended period, having been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Delhi in 2023 due to heart-related problems.
Shortly after his hospitalization, Bal expressed his gratitude in a post, thanking everyone for their well-wishes. “Dear friends, family, and supporters, I am profoundly moved by your outpouring of love and prayers during my illness. Your support has been a source of hope and strength.”
