Cross-border tensions force BCCI to halt the tournament mid-season. SRH & LSG have started ticket refunds for cancelled matches.
IPL 2025 Suspended: SRH and LSG Begin Ticket Refunds Amid Cross-Border Tension
After the BCCI announced a week-long suspension of IPL 2025 due to rising cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, franchises Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have initiated the ticket refund process for their upcoming home matches. These matches, scheduled between SRH vs KKR and LSG vs RCB, will not take place as planned, leaving fans disappointed but understanding given the sensitive geopolitical climate.
SRH was set to host Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, while LSG was to welcome Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. With the suspension in effect, both franchises confirmed that fans who purchased tickets will receive full refunds, with more details to be shared through their official channels.
The decision to halt the league came shortly after tensions flared along the India-Pakistan border, leading to blackouts in cities like Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot. These events even forced the abandonment of the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, just 10.1 overs into the first innings. With logistical challenges mounting, including airport closures and security risks, the BCCI had no choice but to prioritize safety.
So far, 58 matches have been played in IPL 2025, with 12 league matches and the playoffs still pending. The board is expected to release revised fixtures once the situation stabilizes. For now, fans and teams alike await further updates, hoping for a safe and smooth conclusion to this year’s tournament.
