BJP spokesperson Shaina NC has transitioned to the Shiv Sena following an offer from the Eknath Shinde-led party to nominate her for the Mumbadevi constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections on November 20. She is set to submit her nomination today.
In a statement on X, she expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar for the opportunity to serve the constituents of Mumbadevi during the elections. Shortly after the announcement of her candidacy by the Shinde-led Sena, she officially joined the party in the presence of the Maharashtra Chief Minister and other prominent leaders.
In an interview with news agency ANI, Shaina NC remarked, “Having lived in South Mumbai my entire life, I am acutely aware of the challenges faced by residents, including issues related to cluster development, local sanitation, and public spaces. I am dedicated to serving the people of Mumbai.” She emphasized her desire to be more than just a Member of the Legislative Assembly, stating, “I aim to be their voice. It is essential to reflect the collective awareness of the administration, the legislature, and the citizens in delivering effective public service. I assure the public that I do not have a personal assistant; I personally respond to all calls and will remain accessible and accountable to my constituents and voters.”
The Mumbadevi constituency falls within the Mumbai Lok Sabha seat, which has been represented in the Assembly by Congress’s Amin Patel since 2009.
Previously, there were indications that the BJP might nominate Shaina NC for the Worli constituency. However, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has since announced former Congress leader Milind Deora as its candidate for Worli, who will compete against Aaditya Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) and son of Uddhav Thackeray.
