Renault has officially confirmed the return of the Duster to the Indian market, with the third-generation model expected to launch around Diwali 2025. Additionally, the French automaker has announced plans to introduce a seven-seater SUV variant based on the Duster.

A test mule for this model was recently observed undergoing trials abroad. Both the five-seater Duster and its seven-seater counterpart are derived from the Dacia Bigster concept, which was unveiled internationally a few years ago. They will be built on the new CMF-B platform, co-developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance.

The two SUVs will share numerous components, including body panels, exterior design, features, and powertrains. Furthermore, the Alliance has revealed that Nissan will also release rebadged versions of both forthcoming Renault models. To recall, Nissan previously marketed the Terrano, a rebadged version of the Duster, and later introduced the Kicks in the compact C-segment SUV category.

The Terrano was discontinued in April 2020 following the implementation of BS6 emission regulations, while the Kicks was phased out last year as part of the transition to the next stage of BS6 standards. Neither the Terrano nor the Kicks achieved significant sales volumes in the Indian market during their time. However, Nissan is optimistic about revitalizing its presence with the upcoming duo of C-segment SUVs.

The Alliance also presented a teaser image of the new Duster and its Nissan equivalent during a recent press conference, showcasing their unique individual designs.
