Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Maruti Suzuki, the domestic automobile manufacturer, unveiled the new Dzire sedan on Monday, presenting a revamped version of one of India’s most favored sedans. Since its launch, the Dzire has achieved remarkable success, with sales exceeding 2.7 million units, outpacing the total sales of the entire sedan market in India, as noted by Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director of Maruti Suzuki.

Notably, the latest Dzire marks Maruti’s inaugural model to receive a five-star rating from Global NCAP for adult occupant protection, alongside a commendable four-star rating for child occupant safety.

The 2025 Dzire is powered by the Z-series 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine, a dependable powertrain that generates 80.5 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. When utilizing CNG, this engine produces 69.75 hp and 101.8 Nm of torque. Shared with the new Swift, this engine is recognized for its impressive fuel efficiency, offering approximately 24 km per litre in petrol and around 33 km per kilogram in CNG, positioning it as a strong contender in its category. Maruti has prioritized safety in this model, equipping it with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchors, three-point seat belts for all five seats, pedestrian protection, anti-lock brakes, and rear parking sensors. The new Dzire achieved a score of 31.24 out of 34 for adult safety and 39.20 out of 49 for child safety in Global NCAP’s crash tests, marking significant improvements over the previous Dzire, which received a two-star rating in both categories.

Inside, the 2025 Dzire showcases an interior design akin to that of the Swift, focusing on delivering a comfortable and user-friendly experience. A prominent 9-inch freestanding touchscreen, along with features such as automatic climate control, wireless charging, an engine start/stop button, and rear AC vents, enhances the overall driving experience. Additionally, the new Dzire introduces an electric sunroof, a first for both this model and its segment.

Dzire is recognized for its safety features. Achieving a 5-star crash test rating from GNCAP, it is the first vehicle from Maruti to attain this distinction. The vehicle’s structure is classified as stable and is equipped with six airbags, an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchorage as standard equipment.

Internally, several elements have been inspired by the Swift. The highest variant of the Dzire features a 9-inch Smart Play Pro Plus infotainment display. While the interface may appear somewhat uninspired, it provides a sufficient amount of information. Additionally, exclusive to the premium trims are features such as a 360-degree camera, an electric sunroof, a tire pressure monitoring system, wireless charging, and cruise control. The automatic air conditioning panel has also been updated, showcasing the characteristic Maruti Suzuki design with a trapezoidal shape and grey accents.

The asserted fuel efficiency is among the best in its class. In petrol variants, the economy reaches up to 25.71 kmpl, while CNG models can achieve as much as 33.73 km/kg. The AMT transmission performs better than most competitors in the segment. Although the head nods are relatively minimal, the gear shifts do take their time. The suspension is tuned to be softer, effectively absorbing road imperfections at lower speeds without significantly affecting cabin comfort. The ground clearance remains consistent at 163 mm. The steering is light and somewhat imprecise at the center, yet the handling remains very reliable. The fourth generation is poised to compete with the forthcoming Honda Amaze, set to launch in December. The Dzire is priced between ₹ 6.79 lakh and ₹ 10.14 lakh (ex-showroom) and presents a strong initial impression. With an array of features, impressive fuel efficiency, and top-notch safety, the new Dzire exemplifies a modern Maruti Suzuki offering.
