The strain between the two parties dates back to the release of Jigra, which has become one of Alia Bhatt’s lowest-grossing opening films.

Divya Khosla accuses Alia Bhatt of ‘rigging’ collections of ‘Jigra’

Actor Divya Khosla has launched a pointed critique against Alia Bhatt, alleging that she has engaged in the manipulation of box office figures for her recent film, Jigra. Divya has claimed that Alia purchased tickets for her own film and subsequently announced “fake collection” figures to mislead the audience.
On Saturday, Divya utilized her Instagram Stories to express her discontent, sharing an image of an empty cinema and questioning the reported financial success of the film.
This heated dispute has garnered significant attention within Bollywood and the broader entertainment sector, as Divya Khosla Kumar, spouse of producer Bhushan Kumar, has openly criticized both Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt regarding their roles in the film Jigra. The controversy arose shortly after the film’s release, which was co-produced by Karan Johar and features Alia Bhatt. Divya has accused both individuals of engaging in unethical practices, including plagiarism and the manipulation of box office statistics.
Divya Khosla Kumar’s concerns were initially sparked by her assertion that Jigra closely resembled her own film, Savi, which had been released prior. She contended that Jigra’s storyline was alarmingly similar to that of Savi, and despite her film being produced first, she felt that the star power of Alia Bhatt and the influence of Karan Johar had overshadowed her work.

In discussing this matter, Divya expressed her disappointment and frustration over the apparent neglect of her project. “Both films share the same narrative, yet my film was produced first,” Divya remarked, highlighting that Savi was co-produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Alia Bhatt’s uncle, which adds another dimension to the ongoing dispute.
Divya Khosla took to social media, particularly Instagram Stories, to articulate her concerns, posting a photograph of an empty theater where Jigra was being shown. She accused the creators of Jigra, including Karan Johar, of artificially inflating box office figures despite the low turnout at screenings. “I witnessed an empty theater, yet Jigra’s opening figures are being reported as substantial.”
Divya Khossla has initiated a confrontation with the creators of “Jigra,” namely Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar. The conflict began with an Instagram post in which Divya accused Alia of manipulating the box office figures of her recent film. Following this, Karan posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story stating, “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools.” Although he did not specify any individuals, the message appeared to be a direct reaction to Divya’s claims. In a recent interview, Divya criticized Karan for employing “derogatory language” towards her. She remarked, “When I voice my concerns, Mr. Karan Johar resorts to derogatory language to silence me. Is it appropriate to label a woman a fool for highlighting unethical practices? If this occurs to me, what about those who are new to the industry?” Divya expressed to Hindustan Times.
Furthermore, she stated, “No one holds a position of superiority here, and I refuse to be treated as a subordinate. There have been numerous derogatory terms used in their public relations articles, and they have dismissed my stance as a mere PR stunt. I apologize, but I do not require such tactics. I am already well-established.”
Divya Khossla concern about corporate bookings
Divya Khossla expressed her apprehension regarding corporate bookings and the inaccurate representation of box office statistics, stating, “In the aftermath of Covid, many smaller production companies have ceased operations, leaving only those with substantial financial resources to thrive. I observed an empty theater, yet the reported opening figures for Jigra were exaggerated. This situation requires significant rectification.”
The discord between the two parties can be attributed to the parallels between Divya Khossla’s film Savi and Alia Bhatt’s Jigra. Divya asserts that “Jigra is a replica” of her film Savi, emphasizing that “both films follow the same narrative,” but her project “entered production first.” Jigra premiered in theaters on October 11, while Savi was released in May 2024.
