Congress Responds After BJP Claims Kharge Was ‘Disrespected’ During Wayanad Nomination.

A video recording featuring Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge purportedly waiting outside the room during Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s nomination submission in Wayanad has ignited a political controversy between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. A video clip featuring Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge purportedly waiting outside the room during Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s nomination filing in Wayanad has ignited a political controversy between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. In the widely circulated video, Kharge is observed standing at the entrance while Priyanka Gandhi finalizes her nomination documents.

Numerous BJP leaders, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, and BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya, have criticized the Congress, alleging that the party has shown disrespect towards Kharge, a prominent Dalit leader. Sarma expressed his discontent on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that the Congress leadership was “humiliating” Kharge, asserting that he was treated merely as a “rubber stamp” by the party.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar supported this view, questioning the rationale behind Kharge’s exclusion from the room and arguing that it reflected the Congress’s lack of regard for its senior leaders. Amit Malviya also took the opportunity to inquire whether Kharge’s Dalit identity influenced his being kept outside the nomination room.

In response, the Congress promptly refuted the allegations. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate characterized the BJP’s assertions as “lies,” clarifying that the limited capacity of the room during the nomination process necessitated Kharge’s brief wait. She provided photographs of Kharge seated alongside senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi to counter the claims of disrespect.

Shrinate further challenged BJP leaders on social media, denouncing their “lies” and accusing them of fabricating false narratives. She urged them to examine the photographs before disseminating misinformation and described Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s remarks as “buffoonery.”

The exchange between the BJP and Congress regarding the video has intensified the existing political tensions, with both parties continuing to engage in mutual criticism over the matter.
